September Event Log: Stealing from the Dragon's Nesafnfhjkasf ERROR

Stealing front the dragon's nest

Mission #03: Stealing from the Dragon's Nest

Expedition HQ has discovered a key to the locked gate on the third floor! They have determined that behind the gate is a dragon's nest. All explorers have been given a copy of the key with one mission: bring back a dragon egg.

The dragon, however, is beyond strong and there's no way to win. Your only chance is to sneak in and out without being caught. Luckily, the dragon is nocturnal and can be found sleeping during the day. Still, a snapped twig underfoot or getting into a fight in the area could wake it up...and it won't be happy to be disturbed. The dragon is aligned with the BOLT element, with a special area of effect attack that allows it to rain lightning on the surrounding area.

Characters find a key in their inventory. The description reads: a copy of the key to unlock the area to the dragon's nest. Provided by Expedition HQ.

ERROR EVENT INFORMATION LOST

After stepping into the dragon's den, there's suddenly a window popping up in front of you. It's a pretty normal occurrence by now, surely, except, there's a sound like static before the following message pops up in glowing blue all over your field of vision:

ERROR: UNAUTHORIZED USERS DETECTED

COMMENCING SYSTEM CLEAN UP…STANDBY…

And then the panel disappears...only to pop up again, this time reading:

ERROR: ASSET FILES NOT FOUND

And at the same time the weapon you were holding disappears and the dragon suddenly turns towards your direction whether or not you have the egg or were in its line of sight. It's eyes are glowing a faint blue.

You don't have a lot of time to admire it though as it roars and charges towards you.

End of Event

Any weapons remain missing while in the labyrinth but upon returning to town the weapon returns to your inventory. The next time you return to the labyrinth everything is back to normal...how strange.

Apart from that, upon exiting the labyrinth, those who managed to complete the mission get the following message:

Mission #03 Completed!

Though Dust much preferred to fight his way through any opposition, he could appreciate that the dragon might very well be out of his league at the moment. Luckily, with agility and dexterity came a certain amount of lightfootedness, and a snoozing dragon meant that he was creeping away with an egg in one hand and --

--and very suddenly, nothing in the other, while a roaring filled the air.

Testament to how very surprised Dust was, he hesitated a split second before dodging, and that proved disastrous as he threw himself to one side, leaving the dragon to occupy the space between him and the door.

This wasn't very good.

Honestly, she wasn't very keen on stealing the dragon's babies. If anything, she absolutely planned to return the eggs as soon as possible afterwards even if it might be dangerous...and to make sure everyone else returned the egg as well.

She passed through the gate just as the dragon had landed some distance ahead of her. She could run. She had just entered the area but then she spotted from between the dragon's legs (being short had its advantages) a familiar figure.

Instead of running away then, she ran towards the creature and slid under its belly and coming back into a crouch near Dust.

"Can you run?" Being here for a while she's found being injured isn't the same here as normally. But there were some...what were...ah. Status effects that made it difficult to move afterwards.

The dragon...it was supposed to be strong, right? But how strong?

As she wondered that a flurry of those blue panels appeared around her. Some of those words made sense but others were strange. Users? System? Asset files? What...

Her class doesn't have weapons but there had been a pair of gloves she'd been wearing and they suddenly flickered out of existence.

"What's..." Happening is what she wanted to say but then the dragon reared back its head to spit lightning at them.

Why. Why was she running into danger instead of getting out? Now two of them were in danger instead of just him!

Dust was slower, weaker, and clumsier here than he had been in Falana, but those measures were all relative. He was fast enough to throw himself at her and grab her, the better to hit the ground below the tongue of lightning cracking out at them.

Because he was in danger and she didn't want to leave him alone to face it.

Still, despite her intentions he still had to be the one to push her down and away from the lighting that crackled above them.

She pushed him just enough to stand and grab his hand.

"We need to get out of its line of sight!"

But were there any rocks? Probably not but the labyrinth had not shortage of trees. Maybe if they could get up into some trees they could hide in the foliage. With that in mind, she tries to drag him towards the nearest tree...which still requires some running to get too.

The dragon opens its wings wide with a roar.

He'd thought things were bad when he felt weak and slow. He'd figured things were disastrous when he couldn't even swing Ahrah in battle.

How did things keep getting WORSE?

Forget dragging, and forget politeness as well -- Dust scooped her up without a moment's hesitation, then practically hurled her into the tree, strength and momentum propelling her forwards as he scrambled to get to the trunk below her. "Get on the other side!"
